Secure Furniture

What is it that makes our furniture secure? Well, there are a number of things. Firstly, we only use the best and most durable materials, ensuring a long lifespan as well as safety. And, secondly, every piece of furniture we make has been designed to meet a specific set of needs. Your patients needs. So, whether you are in need of secure furniture for a mental health unit, a young offenders institute or a care home for the elderly, our secure furniture range could prove fruitful.

But what exactly does our secure furniture offer? Well, here’s everything you need to know!

Secure Fitted Furniture

Secure Furniture

Unlike freestanding furniture which can be thrown or kicked about with ease, our secure furniture is both fitted and heavy to reduce the risk of injury. Therefore, patients will be unable to form a weapon out of their furniture. And, features such as non-removable drawers, play a big part in this.

Other key components that make our secure furniture some of the safest and most robust around include thick timber framing, full length hinges and anti-ligature fixtures. As well as this, all of our beds feature solid bases rather than slats whilst wardrobes and cabinets come with the option of sloped tops to prevent the concealment of items.

Secure sections with key or padlock operated locks are also a feature of our secure range, as are dove-tailed joints.

Tough Materials

Secure Furniture

In terms of materials, ash and oak hardwood and veneer are generally our go to. Though, internal parts, such as drawer boxes and bed bases, are made from thick medium density fiberboard. Secure beds can also be provided with anti-pick mastic edging for piece of mind.

All furniture items are finished with a clear lacquer though a Medicoate option is also available. Are you sat, puzzled, wondering what Medicoate lacquer is? Well, in simple terms, furniture with a Midicoate finish prevents the spread of certain bacteria and organisms. Therefore, this finish option would be perfect for care homes where germs are most damaging.

Desks and other working surfaces, such as drawer chests and bedsides, can be provided with a laminate or Formica top, in a range of colours. These are heat, scratch and water resistant, making them perfect for secure homes with children and young people.

TV Cabinets

Secure Furniture

Our secure TV cabinet, available in ash and oak, is arguably the most popular item in its range!

Made with a Makrolon unbreakable plastic screen, our TV cabinet is perfect for communal spaces. This can be made either as a freestanding or fitted unit and can incorporate lockable shelving for TV boxes and games consoles.
