Bootham School – Dormitory Furniture

Dormitory Furniture

Our team worked with Bootham School on another of their renovation projects. As we had supplied them with dormitory furniture before, we knew the style and homely feel they were hoping for.

The Signature Range has been developed as an alternative to the ETB Premiere Range. But, it is much more modern and on trend. This furniture is designed to be long-lasting and durable, so it can withstand many years of wear and tear. This time around, Bootham School wanted their dormitory furniture to come in two colours – Farrow and Ball Stiffkey Blue and Little Green Portland Stone. Both looks are sophisticated, eye-catching and modern. Students love the texture and appearance of their Signature furniture as it makes their dormitory feel like a home away from home.

The Dormitory Furniture

Our Signature Range of dormitory furniture looks much more expensive than it is, which is why schools love it! Included in this furniture range, was a variety of Signature furniture which made up 12 student places.

Furniture included:
  • Downe House Bed
  • Bedside Chest
  • Chester Desk
  • Shoe Storage
  • Royal Wardrobe
  • Coat Hooks
  • Chairs
  • Pin Boards

All furniture items had painted carcasses in the colours specified by the client. Both colours gave the dormitory furniture a rich, homely texture which looked beautiful in the dormitories.

For this particular project, in some dormitories, space was tight due to the shape and size of the rooms. So, it was important that our team designed the furniture to maximise storage. It was important that every student had their own space – a space to work, a space to sleep and a space to store all of their personal belongings.

Downe House Beds were perfect for this project as they are low to the ground yet still offer a fair amount of storage. With six drawers included. Our Royal Wardrobes also offered students vital storage space, in the form of two drawers, pigeon hole shelving and a hanging rail.

Additional coat hooks on matching oak rails were included in all of the dormitories for hanging coats and jackets. Not only is this space saving, but it gives the students an extra bit of storage.  Where possible shoe storage units were also included and when placed at the foot of the beds, offered an extra worktop to place belongings & school books.
