The Royal High School Bath

The Royal High School Bath is a prestigious independent day and boarding school for girls aged 3-18. The school wanted to under go a large refurbishment for their 2 boarding houses, we created a design that was classic yet modern that really made a difference to the houses. Due to the architecture of the building, some items of furniture had to be made with extra precision and durability. Director of finance and operations Rebecca Barrell provides insight into the project below.

Oak Hardwood Dormitory Furniture
Last summer we embarked on a major refurbishment programme of our two Boarding Houses. We were looking for a design that was contemporary and stylish, yet providing a home-from-home environment, that in terms of quality would stand the test of time. Working with ETB allowed us to do just that.

Over an intensive 7 week period, over 75 rooms (145 beds) were fully refurbished with new beds, headboards, wardrobes, shelving, drawers, study desks, chairs, pin-boards and vanity units. We had significant challenges including: the amount of time (this project had to be completed by the start of the new term, this was non-negotiable), the number of contractors needing to work in tandem and most of all the bespoke approach that was needed to the furniture build due to architectural design of the houses with many of the bedrooms being different in size and layout.

ETB was able to provide us with the look and feel we had envisaged, delivered the project on time and was cost/quality competitive. ETB lived and breathed the refurbishment with us every step of the way. Their commitment to deliver as promised was most impressive from the design team to the fitters. It was a pleasure to work with ETB and we look forward to a fruitful relationship as we move forward.
